General & Preventative Dentistry in Barrie: A Key to Good Oral Health

Did you know taking care of your oral health does more than just giving you a great smile, while also preventing issues like bad breath and gum disease? As a general dentist in Barrie, Dr. Mingming Yan from Dr. Yan’s Dental Care, advises our patients that your oral health and overall well-being are linked. That means an unhealthy mouth, especially one with gum disease, can actually increase your risk of other health problems like heart attack, stroke and more. Your mouth can also act as a window into what’s going on in your body. Are you ready to visit Dr. Mingming Yan and start on the road to good oral health? Teeth Cleaning and More

In order to maintain good oral health, it’s important to schedule regular dental appointments. Dr. Mingming Yan recommends patients to visit our office twice a year for checkups and cleanings. However, some patients do require more frequent appointments, like those with gum disease, weakened immune systems and other conditions. In general, your dental checkups and cleanings will allow Dr. Yan and the staff to perform:

  • Complete oral and dental exam

  • Oral cancer screen

  • Cleaning teeth (scaling and root planing)

  • Fluoride treatment

  • Simple extraction

  • Root canal Therapy

  • Bruxism guard and sports mouth guard

  • Preventative

  • Restorations

  • Dental emergency

  • Dentures

  • Laser on soft tissue surgery

  • Porcelain or metal crowns

  • Porcelain or metal bridges

Sedation Dentistry

Nitrous oxide, which is sometimes referred to as “laughing gas” is something we offer Dr. Yan’s Dental Care patients to make them feel more comfortable during certain procedures like a wisdom tooth extraction. This process isn’t meant to put patients to sleep as they can hear and respond the whole time. The effect of the gas, which is inhaled through a small mask, wears off soon after it is removed.
